Family Therapy
Grumpy.
That’s the adjective that best describes your teenagers.
Doors are closed. Doors are always closed.
All you know is they won’t talk to you.
Well, occasionally by yelling.
It’s been like this for a while. Worried about them and not getting any support from your spouse or significant other. You’re at your wits’ end and don’t know what to do.
Family therapy can help.
Often, there appears to be only one person in the family that is struggling. However, amazing, dramatic, rapid change can come about when a family comes together to support the member experiencing difficulties. Each family member can be a resource to help solve the problem, as they each have their own unique perspective to add.
Working with the entire family, or as many members as possible, allows me to view a client in the context of their family unit. This unique vantage point allows me to identify areas that are contributing to the presenting problem. This approach is generally more effective and efficient than individual therapy alone.
One way to think of asking for help for the entire family is that none of us are experts in all things. Experts exist to repair our car, diagnose a disease, clean our teeth. Why not seek an expert when we have a problem we haven’t been able to solve on our own?
Make the change with Brighter Side Counseling.
Brighter side uses an inclusive and supportive approach with the family members by way of mediation and conciliatory interventions. My family therapy work is tailored to meet the immediate and long-term needs of the family.
The insights gained through family sessions are invaluable in helping my clients to understand the origins of the issues, how others perceive them and, most importantly, how to create healthier patterns of interaction and more effective conflict resolution, healthy communication and coping strategies.
