Domestic Violence – Male Offenders

Behaviors of a Male Offender

Madonna keeps putting pressure on me. She knows what I expect, but she wants to play head games.

I don’t like her family or her friends. I told her not to be around them, but I know she sneaks to see them when I’m working.

Sometimes Madonna pushes me to a level of anger, and the only way to get her to respect me is to put my hands on her, yell, take her money, and not let her leave the house.

It’s not my fault. If only Madonna would stop pushing me to act like that, nobody would get physically or emotionally hurt – and my kids would still be home.

It’s all Madonna’s fault…

An Individual recognizes the consequences of their behavior as offenders.

Offenders who want to change their abusive behavior need to accomplish four key initiatives – which is the willingness to give up ultimate control in their relationships; take total responsibility for their abusive behavior; cooperate with their partner to resolve disagreements in a mutually respectful manner; and establish collaborative goals with their partner that reflects collective needs.

Take the Journey with Brighter Side Counseling

I have years of experience working with offenders, both male and female.

Brighter Side Counseling offers a Domestic Violence Offenders Group. It is a 90-minute interactive weekly session for 24 weeks.

This program is dedicated to de-emphasizing the self-centered goals an offender develops when s/he lashes out at their partner and children for short-term self-gratification and a feeling of “personal power.”

In the group, I will address the four initiatives in a collaborative, positive setting that encourages sharing experiences that produce violent reactions in a family environment. I will teach you the skills needed to recognize triggers and how to defuse situations by learning how to effectively communicate.
